Facility: Mass Spectrometry Laboratory

Function: This instrument is a gas chromatograph with a quadrupole mass spectrometer using electron ionization (EI) for organic chemistry reaction monitoring, and analysis of volatile products at sub-ambient oven temperatures.

-6890N GC Specifications:-Dual split/splitless injectors (max temp 450 ˚C)-100 position autosampler (0.1-5 µL injections)-Full electronic pressure control (500:1 max split ratio)-Both columns go into MSD*Typically 15 m 0.25 mm i.d. DB-5MS column on front and 30 m, 0.25 mm i.d. DB-5MS column on rear*Can use both columns during a sequence with no hardware changes-Liquid CO2 cooled oven, temperature range -40 ˚C – +450 ˚C-5973 MSD Mass Spectrometer Specifications:-Electron ionization (EI) source, positive ions from 2-800 m/z-Unit resolution (0.6 Da wide peaks) and mass accuracy (±0.2 Da)-Detect 1 pg of C10F8 @ 60:1 signal:noise ratio-Scan rate up to 8000 amu/sec
